Mitratech Acquired by TA Associates

We’ve done so much reporting of late on Mitratech acquisitions.  In an unusual turn of events, we can report that (this time!) Mitratech  has been acquired by TA Associates from Vista Equity Partners.

You have to wonder how the staff at Mitratech are keeping up with it all!

Seriously though, with their portfolio of excellent ELM solutions — TeamConnect, Collaborati, eCounsel, LawManager, CaseTrack, LawTrac, Secretariat and GettingContractsDone — Mitratech is a formidable force in the space.  We believe this acquisition means good things for the future of MItratech and congratulate TA on their new acquisition.

Major Award for GettingContractsDone

GettingContractsDone (“GCD”) has been named a PC Magazine Editor’s Choice solution for 2015.  Legal solutions seldom receive this kind of attention from the tech mags, so this is a huge deal.

GCD is among the Bridgeway portfolio suite of products acquired earlier this summer by Mitratech.

My congratulations on this important award go out to Cathi Collins, the current LEDES Oversight Committee President, who was the driving force behind the conception and development of the product, and who has been primarily responsible for its sales and support.

Bridgeway Acquired

Mitratech announced today that it has acquired Bridgeway Software, who provides LawManager, eCounsel, Corridor, Secretariat and Getting Contracts Done (among other systems).

This acquisition expands Mitratech’s suite of top-line ELM products, which already includes TeamConnect, Collaborati and Lawtrac.

We are anxious to see how this acquisition proceeds.  It was reassuring to learn that Mitratech has a plan for the different products in their portfolio.

Acquisition of LT Online by Mitratech

I constantly hear rumors of MMEB vendor systems for sale, and the rumor mill has been buzzing for the past few months.

I read today that LT Online Corporation, who offers the Lawtrac system, has been acquired by Mitratech.  Congratulations to Frank Orzo and his team.

This follows acquisitions in the past few years of TyMetrix by CT Corporation, Tripoint by CT Corporation, Mitratech by Vista Equity Partners, Serengeti by Thomson Reuters, Visabillity by Bottomline Technologies and Allegient also by Bottomline Technologies.

It is always interesting to see what the new owner will do with these systems once acquired.  Many don’t fully understand the lengthy sales cycle.  Others lack product vision or the commitment necessary to evolve the product.  Others still see acquisition as the opportunity to acquire customers and, after a short period of stasis, stop selling and eventually withdraw support for the product.  It will be interesting to see what happens in this case.
